Steel Frames and Exterior Sheathing
Easy Choices for
SECURE BUILD SITES
Commercial construction depends on steel frames and innovative exterior sheathing solutions. The first steel frame building was erected in the United States in 1890, and steel frames have continually been improved and reinvented to meet today’s demanding standards ever since. Metro Interior Distributors is committing to providing a range of steel frame options from ClarkDietrich and other leading manufacturers.
Metro also carries a range of exterior sheathing products from Georgia-Pacific and National Gypsum®. We offer structural sheathing to increase building stability and non-structural sheathing to improve insulation.

Steel Frame Constuction
Steel frame construction is durable and sustainable. Not only are steel frames 30-50% lighter than similar weight-bearing wood or concrete products, but they are also easier to fabricate, fire-resistant, weather-resistant, and pest and insect resistant. No wonder steel framing has become the standard for commercial construction.

Exterior Options
When choosing the best sheathing material for a build, contractors must consider many factors. Exterior sheathing has to meet budget and structural safety requirements and be compatible with climate conditions, environmental threats, and regulatory requirements.

INSULATION BOARD
Hunter Xci Foil
Hunter Xci Foil provides continuous insulation within the building envelope. This polyiso offers increased R-value per inch vs. mineral fiber, XPS, or EPS options. It can assist in meeting the most current ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, IBC, and IRC standards. It’s also manufactured with NexGen Chemistry: zero Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP); contains no CFCs, HCFCs, or HFCs; virtually zero Global Warming Potential (GWP). The use of Xci products is one way to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings.
RMax Thermasheath®-3
This lightweight thermal insulation board from Rmax has reinforced aluminum foil facers. That means it’s suitable for cavity walls, masonry walls, below-grade exterior walls, and some limited roofing applications. Various Thermosheath® products can be used together to create a continuous insulation solution.
Johns Manville Polyiso Foam Sheathing
Johns Manville polyiso foam sheathing insulation boards are an excellent choice for contractors looking to reduce thermal bridging and improve energy efficiency. John Manville’s polyiso provides one of the highest R-values per inch of any rigid insulation.
